Arrival Airport transfer to New Delhi Railway station,We prefer to travel by train from Delhi to Chandigrah to avoid the heavy traffic of G.T.road and to save time. Drive to Jispa (145 kms / 7 - 8 hrs) This high altitude road range, connects the densely fertile and green Kullu valley to the stark barren region of Ladakh. The beyond the great Himalayan drive starts at Manali slowly winding up mountain roads till Rohtang Pass at 3,950 Mts. which connects the Kullu to the Lahaul valley. On entering the Lahaul valley we see a distinct change with the Hindu influence being replaced with the Buddhist religion. We reach Jispa by late afternoon. After lunch Leisurely start to drive over the scenic Baralacha Pass (4880 Mts.). Plenty of stops to capture the scenic grandeur of this majestic landscape dotted with snow capped peaks and high altitude lakes. After crossing the pass drop down to the vast Sarchu plains at an altitude of 4200 Mts. (80 KMS/4 HRS) Overnight in deluxe tents.

Your journey begins in the scenic town of Manali (2050m), where you will check into your hotel and spend the day acclimatizing. You can take a leisurely stroll through Old Manali, visit Hadimba Temple, or shop at Mall Road. In the evening, there will be a safari briefing by the tour coordinator before an overnight stay in Manali.

After breakfast, the adventure kicks off as you drive through the famous Atal Tunnel into Lahaul Valley. The route passes through Sissu and Gondhla with mesmerizing views of waterfalls, lush meadows, and the Bhaga River flowing alongside. By evening, you’ll arrive in Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul Valley, for an overnight stay.

The drive today takes you into remote terrain as you ascend the mighty Shinku La Pass (5091m), the gateway to Zanskar. The landscape shifts dramatically from green valleys to rugged mountains and gorges. Passing through Darcha and Chikka, you eventually descend into the pristine Zanskar Valley, reaching the small village of Purne (3700m). This peaceful hamlet serves as the base for Phugtal Monastery, where you will stay in a local guesthouse or homestay.

Today you trek to the iconic Phugtal Monastery, a hidden jewel built into a cliffside above the Tsarap River. The monastery looks like a honeycomb clinging to the rock face and has meditation caves that have been used by monks for centuries. After exploring the monastery and soaking in the dramatic scenery, you trek back to Purne for another night’s stay.

After breakfast, you will drive along the Tsarap River through small Zanskari villages before arriving at Padum (3660m), the administrative and cultural center of Zanskar. The small town, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, offers a first glimpse of life in this remote valley. In the evening, you can walk around the town or interact with locals before staying overnight in Padum.

The day is devoted to exploring the rich cultural heritage of Zanskar. You will visit Karsha Monastery, the largest and most important monastery in the valley, followed by Stongdey Monastery perched high on a hill. Later, you will explore Sani Monastery, one of the oldest Drukpa monasteries, known for its ancient chortens and murals. The evening can be spent exploring Padum town and its lively local market before returning to your hotel for the night.

Today’s drive is long but incredibly scenic. Crossing Penzi La Pass (4400m), you will stop at the spectacular Drang Drung Glacier, one of the largest glaciers in Ladakh. From here, the road descends into the fertile Suru Valley, with breathtaking views of the Nun-Kun peaks towering above. By evening, you will reach Kargil (2676m), a historic town on the banks of the Suru River, for an overnight stay.

The journey continues along the Indus Valley as you head towards Leh. Enroute, you will see the ancient rock carvings at Mulbekh, cross Fotu La and Namik La passes, and visit the mystical Lamayuru Monastery, famous for its “Moonland” landscapes. This day is reserved for exploring the monasteries and cultural landmarks of Leh. You will visit Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, and Hemis Monastery, each known for their unique architecture and spiritual significance. In the evening, you can walk around Leh Market, shop for souvenirs, or relax at Shanti Stupa, which offers panoramic views of the town and surrounding mountains.

After breakfast, the drive towards Himachal begins along the famous Leh–Manali Highway. The route takes you across Tanglang La (5328m), the second-highest motorable pass in India, and through the barren yet mesmerizing More Plains. You will also cross Nakee La and Lachung La passes and navigate the thrilling Gata Loops with 21 hairpin bends. By evening, you’ll arrive at Sarchu (4290m) for an overnight stay in deluxe camps under the starry skies.

The final stretch of the safari takes you over Baralacha La (4890m), where you can see the emerald waters of Suraj Tal Lake. Driving past Zing Zing Bar, Jispa, and Keylong, you will cross the Atal Tunnel once again and descend into Manali. Arriving by evening, your Zanskar Jeep Safari concludes with unforgettable memories of high passes, monasteries, glaciers, and the raw beauty of Zanskar Valley.

Day Wise Itinearay

Arrive at Leh (3500m) and transfer to your hotel. The first day is kept for rest and acclimatization to the high altitude. In the evening, take a short walk to the local market or Shanti Stupa for sunset views. Overnight stay in Leh.

After breakfast, explore the monasteries and palaces around Leh. Visit Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, and Hemis Monastery, followed by a visit to Leh Palace. Evening free for shopping in Leh Bazaar. Overnight stay in Leh.

Drive across the world-famous Khardung La Pass (5359m), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Descend into Nubra Valley, known for its sand dunes and double-humped camels. In the evening, visit Diskit Monastery and enjoy a camel ride at Hunder dunes. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

 

After breakfast, drive towards the mesmerizing Pangong Lake (4350m), crossing Shyok Valley on the way. Reach the lake by afternoon and witness its stunning blue shades as the sun sets. Overnight stay in Pangong (camp/cottage).

 

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over Pangong. After breakfast, drive back to Leh via the scenic Chang La Pass (5360m), one of the highest mountain passes. Arrive in Leh by evening. Overnight stay in Leh.

 

Today, head towards Sham Valley, also known as the “Apricot Valley.” Visit Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Indus-Zanskar Confluence (Sangam), and Likir Monastery. Return to Leh by evening for overnight stay.

 

After breakfast, transfer to Leh Airport for your onward journey, carrying unforgettable memories of Ladakh.
